Inn & Restaurant General Manager

The Historic Elk Mountain Hotel is seeking an Inn & Restaurant General Manager who wants more than just a job. This is an opportunity to help lead a historic inn and restaurant in one of Wyoming’s most beautiful and unique settings.

This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who enjoys variety, building strong guest relationships, and being part of a small community. As General Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the inn and restaurant while working closely with ownership to help shape the future of the property.

Our guests include travelers exploring Wyoming, outdoor enthusiasts passing through the region, and locals who gather for dinner, drinks, and music. Creating a warm, memorable experience for every guest is at the heart of everything we do.

The property operates on a seasonal rhythm, with a busy season from May through October and a quieter winter season from November through April.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Hire, schedule, train, and coach team members
  • Foster a positive, accountable team culture
  • Ensure staff are prepared for daily operations and guest needs

Inn Operations

  • Oversee daily inn operations including guest check-in, check-out, and room readiness
  • Coordinate housekeeping priorities and room turnover
  • Manage property maintenance and vendor relationships
  • Order supplies and manage inventory for both the inn and restaurant

Restaurant & Guest Experience

  • Oversee restaurant operations and coordinate with kitchen staff
  • Step in to support dinner service when needed
  • Deliver warm, attentive hospitality from arrival through departure
  • Address guest concerns quickly and professionally

Events & Business Operations

  • Coordinate special events, group bookings, and private gatherings
  • Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency
  • Oversee basic bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative tasks

A Typical Day Might Include

  • Preparing coffee early for guests
  • Supporting breakfast service with the team
  • Coordinating housekeeping priorities
  • Ordering supplies and managing deliveries
  • Handling guest reservations and inquiries
  • Overseeing evening dinner service
  • Planning upcoming events or group stays

No two days are the same, and there are always plenty of moving parts, making this role both exciting and rewarding.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience managing hospitality, lodging, or restaurant operations
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Experience scheduling and managing small teams
  • Familiarity with property management systems and basic accounting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Boutique hotel, lodge, or inn management experience
  • Restaurant leadership experience
  • Event planning or group hospitality coordination
  • Experience operating in rural or destination hospitality markets

Seasonal Cook

Seasonal Cook needed for our historic Wyoming inn and restaurant. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a tight-knit kitchen, values quality over volume, and takes pride in preparing thoughtful, homemade meals in a unique setting.

Our kitchen focuses primarily on dinner service from 5 to 8 p.m., along with breakfast for guests and occasional lunch or special events.

What You’ll Be Doing

Kitchen Execution

  • Prepare and cook meals with a focus on quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Execute breakfast and dinner service, with occasional lunch or event support
  • Maintain safe food handling practices and a clean kitchen environment

Prep & Operations

  • Handle daily prep, inventory checks, and receiving orders
  • Assist with ordering and organizing kitchen supplies
  • Minimize waste and help manage food costs

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the General Manager, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team
  • Help ensure smooth service for both regular dining and special events
  • Train or support less experienced team members as needed

All-Hands Environment

  • Step in wherever needed, including dishwashing, cleaning, and kitchen reset
  • Help maintain equipment and communicate issues quickly

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years professional cooking experience
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency
  • Strong work ethic with reliability throughout the full season
  • Ability to work long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Positive attitude and strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary school or formal training
  • Creativity in developing specials or menu ideas
  • Experience mentoring or training junior staff

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in creating welcoming spaces and enjoys working in a small, team-oriented environment where your work truly matters.

What You’ll Be Doing

Room & Property Cleaning

  • Clean guest rooms and bathrooms to a high standard
  • Vacuum, sweep, dust, mop, and sanitize surfaces
  • Change linens, towels, and restock rooms for guest arrivals

Laundry & Organization

  • Handle laundry, linens, and ironing as needed
  • Keep storage areas, supplies, and workspaces organized

Property Upkeep

  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas and outdoor spaces
  • Assist with light landscaping such as watering flowers and tidying grounds
  • Support deep cleaning projects during slower periods

Events & Team Support

  • Assist with event setup and teardown
  • Communicate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Help prioritize tasks based on occupancy and guest needs

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year housekeeping experience in a hotel or similar environment
  • Strong reliability, honesty, and time management
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized
  • Physical stamina to meet daily demands and complete the full season

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Familiarity with cleaning products, tools, and best practices
